Finfluencer
Also called: financial influencer, finfluencers
A social media creator who posts about money, investing or trading, often to a large audience, and who may or may not be registered or paid to promote products.
Finfluencers range from careful educators to people selling tips, courses and referral links. Their reach can make them seem authoritative, but a large following is not a qualification or a registration.
Before acting on what a finfluencer says, ask how they earn money from their audience, whether they own what they discuss, and whether they are registered with SEBI for any advice or recommendations they give.
Example
A creator with a million followers posts "my top 3 shares for this month" with a broker referral link in the description. That combines a recommendation with a referral payment.
