What MarketShots is
MarketShots is a free educational website about the stock market. It aims to take someone who knows nothing about markets to a solid, independent understanding of how they work: what shares are, how companies report their numbers, how to analyse a business, how to think about risk, and how to recognise a scam.
Our mission is simple: make stock market knowledge accessible to everyone, free and in plain English, so that people can understand markets for themselves and are harder to mislead.
Who it is for
- Complete beginners who have never bought a share.
- People who have opened a trading app and want to understand what they are actually doing.
- Students, parents and anyone who wants to check a claim they have heard about investing.
- Anyone who has been offered a "sure-shot" tip or a guaranteed return and wants to know how such offers work.
How it is organised
The curriculum is arranged as nine learning paths that build on each other, from foundations to advanced topics. Each path is divided into modules, each module into short lessons, and each finished module ends with a test drawn from a bank of at least 30 questions. The roadmap shows clearly which lessons are published and which are still being written.
What MarketShots is not
- Not investment advice. We explain how things work. We never tell you what to buy or sell, and nothing here is personalised to your situation. See the disclaimer.
- Not a tip service. We do not publish stock recommendations, target prices or trading calls, free or paid.
- Not a broker or adviser. We do not handle money, open accounts or earn commissions from any financial firm.
- Not affiliated with SEBI, the exchanges or any company. We link to official sources because they are authoritative, not because we represent them.
How the site works
MarketShots is a static website. There are no accounts, no logins and no tracking scripts. Your learning progress is saved only in your own browser. Read the privacy policy for the details.
How lessons are added
A lesson is published only when it is finished. Until then, its topic appears on the roadmap as planned, rather than as a thin placeholder page. We would rather publish less, and get it right.
If you spot a mistake, please tell us. See how corrections work.
