Brokerage
Also called: brokerage fee, broker commission
The fee your stockbroker charges for carrying out a trade, either a flat amount per order or a percentage of the trade value.
Each broker sets its own brokerage. Some charge nothing on delivery trades and a flat fee per order on intraday or derivatives trades; others charge a percentage. GST is added on top.
"Zero brokerage" does not make a trade free: taxes, exchange and regulatory fees, stamp duty and depository charges still apply.
Example
Suppose a broker charges ₹20 per order and GST of 18% is added. Each order then costs ₹23.60.
