Nifty 50
Also called: Nifty
An index of 50 large companies listed on the National Stock Exchange of India, widely used as a benchmark for Indian shares.
The Nifty 50 tracks the combined movement of 50 large, actively traded companies on NSE. Larger companies carry more weight in the index, based on their free-float market capitalisation.
Its level is quoted in points. Changes are best read as percentages, because the same number of points means a different percentage at different index levels.
